KING BOOKER
On
even though King Booker is no longer the most popular wrestler,
many fans are still hoping that he finally wins the World
Title on Sunday...
"A
lot of people have been waiting on this day a long time.
As far as me getting a shot at it, a chance to win and be
the focal point of the show and what not, my thing is I'm
a worker bee. I just keep on working. I just keep doing
my thing. Just going out to the ring and stealing the show
every night--that's what my job is. That's what my goals
are.
But,
my destiny is to be the World Champion. My destiny is to
be the greatest champion of them all. My destiny is to be
in the Hall of Fame. My destiny is to be the most decorated
champion in wrestling history. That's what my destiny is.
"The
guy who has won every major title in both organizations.
And it could happen for me, but my main focus is to get
past Saturday Night's Main Event and then we'll see what
happens."
On
his legacy almost being complete...
"Yeah. (chuckles) It's crazy, man. But yep--it's almost
complete for me. I've almost done it all. I never really
imagined it all happening for me. I'm still having fun,
though. I don't want to be like Bernard Hopkins--if I do
this here, I'll retire or anything--I'm still having a lot
of fun doing my thing.
And
the company just came to me and wanted me to sign for a
couple more years, just to keep me out there doing my thing,
so, as long as I'm doing that and as long as my fans want
to see me, I'm still working at the top of my game--I accept
no less...I still think I've got a couple of years left."
On
if the incident during the SummerSlam commercial and talking
since has actually brought Booker and Batista closer together...
"Nope.
It'll never be like that. I can honestly say that. I think
he knows that. There's a respect as far as us having to
go out and work together in the ring, and do our jobs. Go
out and do promotions together without getting into a fight.
I think he knows as well as I know that we won't be exchanging
postcards for Christmas.
On
if the situation between he and Batista will make for a
better in-ring feud...
"Oh,
most definitely. Because it fuels my fire because a lot
of the things that were said to me, even an apology will
not erase. I have to get you in the ring to see exactly
where you're at. My thing is I know how good I am. And I
know what my endurance is like. And I know I can get hit
and it's not going to bother me. I'm gonna laugh about it
and keep going--that's the kind of guy I am.
In
a test of endurance and ability and athleticism, it all
comes down to this and my thing is going out and proving
how good and how great I really am. And I want him to know
it first and foremost.
Answering
the obligatory question of a possible Harlem Heat reunion...
"Not
at this point. The Harlem Heat is nowhere close to returning
to the ring or anything like that. It's a question that
people always ask and it's flattering that people still
think about Harlem Heat like that. That we made a big impact
and big impression on people it's great. But I also say
'never say never' because Harlem Heat never really got a
chance to against those one great staple of tag teams.
We
wrestled a lot of great guys and we won a lot of titles,
but it would've been great to go against The Road Warriors,
to go against Doom, to go up against the Dudleys.
