On
his official status… "I am un-signed as of right now.
WCW is looking very promising and I am hoping to close this
deal that we are in talks of. As of now, I am un-signed,
so the rumor that I am already officially signed, you can
put an end to right now."
On
still being a sought-after free agent… "That is correct.
But that's not to say that my schedule is completely open,
either. Because we are at a certain depth as far as the
stages of conversation as to where we are planning out and
committing to do this (WCW). Still haven't been signed or
anything, and I don't imagine that's gonna happen in the
next couple of hours.
"I
do have contract and now it's in the hands of the lawyers
and such. As we move forward with this, just like always,
I think it looks very promising.
"And
I hope to be making a huge impact in the wrestling business
very soon because I know, I feel the pain of all the RVD-fans
that are emailing me saying 'Man, give us a reason to watch
wrestling again. Get back on tv.' I'm gonna do it.
On
finally getting to meet with Jim Ross face-to-face…
"It was very cool. And it made nothing else really matter
except for just us two meeting. So, don't have to worry
about all the silly little games that people put so much
energy into-- about making sure you say the right thing
to this person, or this person is getting this out of it
or it can be looked at different ways.
"No,
just straight forward, one-on-one conversation where we
understood each other and we talked about the present situation
with wrestling. What both of our feelings are on it and
the future. Some things that could be changed, some of our
preferences-what we like, what we don't like about the business.
"We
talked about the possibilities of RVD in WCW and even the
possibility of WWF, as well. It was very cool and I found
Jim Ross to be a very cool guy that I enjoyed talking to,
understood well, and enjoyed his company.
On
other possible talent joining WCW… "I don't know what
to expect, who else is going to be there. Either way, I'm
looking forward to the new WCW being a fresh start where
I think I can make a huge change. And instead of trying
to fit in somewhere and do it this way, do it that way,
if I'm right there at ground level it is what I make of
it.
On
if the positive meeting with JR erased concerns of character
issues and fans will get to see RVD, "The Whole F'N Show"
as it is meant to be… "Absolutely. I get the impression
that he respected a lot of things about my work. That surprised
me, I didn't know how educated he would be on the subject-meaning
myself. And I found the conversation to be very positive
and to lead me to believe that, as you mentioned, I could
be positioned in a very important spot in WCW.
