Trish Stratus
On
how she's feeling after going face-first over the ropes
at Judgment Day:
It's recovered. I had a beautiful fat lip the next day that
actually looked very good with gloss on it. (laughing) Yeah,
I'm a lot better thank you.
When
I saw it back, I was like 'Oh, my God'--no wonder everyone
went crazy. I heard the crowd response and was like 'What,
what?'. I landed on my face. Bumped right off the bottom
there.
On
watching RAW and other WWE shows...
Usually on a Tuesday, I get home off the road and I'll watch
RAW. That's like my catch-up day. I'll watch RAW and of
course, I'll watch my own matches too just to catch up on
everything and try and improve on my old stuff. Yeah, I
watch the program again because when we're there it's so
busy and we don't get to actually see the whole show. (laughing)
It's kind of nice to know what's going on in the show.
And
of course, I watch Smackdown because it's nice to not know
the finishes and know the storylines since we used to be
there and seeing everything when it was the two shows together.
So, it's kind of like a big surprise. For example, when
Sable came out I had no idea and was like 'Oh, my God--there's
Sable'.
On
her improvement as a wrestler...
Wow, well thank you. Thank very much. That means a lot that
you've recognized my hard work. I've been lucky that I've
been provided with a lot of opportunity and people to go
out there and have that many matches. And we have an agent,
Fit Finley, that really oversees the women's stuff so we're
lucky that he goes and basically encourages us. And says
'Why don't you try this, or switch this up'.
And
I'm just lucky there's a credible Women's division right
now, where I'm able to do that with so many different competitors.
Before it was like one or two women could work and we would
have a match like every two weeks. Now, we're out there
every single week and I think, I'd like to think, our matches
are on par with the men's matches. You know, it's just a
challenge. I think they (women's matches) get critiqued
a lot closer than the men's matches and it just presents
us with more of a challenge to go out there and prove ourselves
every time--which makes for some good matches.
Enough
divas right now?
Yeah, it would be easier. I think the more people you have,
because then you can not necessarily focus around the title.
You can branch off and have seperate storylines, which is
like what the Men's division has. You have the title around,
but then you have seperate feuds which is cool. And also,
we're running into the problem right now where I'm the only
face, really.
Of
course, Jackie is a babyface but we haven't seen her lately,
so Gail Kim would be a great addition. And it's always great
to have new characters that people are interested in or
want to see and tune in to see 'What's this chic about?'.
So if there were more us, that would be even better. And
I think they're certainly training a lot more women and
really keeping an eye out, just knowing there's room for
them now.
On
taking all the abuse...
(laughing) You know, it has been crazy. Because when I won
the title for the very first time, it's like I've constantly
been in the run for it. It's an amazing run, but as a babyface,
there feeding in the heels to me and it's made for some
great feuds, but yeah, I think it'd be neat if there were
a lot more of us.
On
finding time for a social life...
What's a social life? (laughing) Because if you know, let
me know and I'll try to get one. Yeah, I've never really
been much of a social person. I've always been really focused
on what I do and obviously what we do out on the road is
like a constant grind that requires that kind of focus.
I think my focus has paid off because I've achieved quite
a lot in a short period of time and that's because of my
focus.
But
yeah, I really try to get my rest and I like my downtime.
I certainly need that. After a show, I'm all pumped up with
adrenaline so l like just kind of calm myself down. Bring
myself down and the drives do that for me or just chillin'
out in my hotel room. I'm kind of a, I'm a quiet gal. There's
times to party, but there's downtimes as well.
On
the Ric Flair tribute...
That was like an amazing moment. And it's kind of like,
no doubt the B-roll cameras are rolling because you definitely
need to capture that, but it's just one of those things.
Booked on the fly--everyone go on out there, let's honor
Ric. It's just one of those moments you can't recreate on
television. that's for sure. Especially in Flair Country,
it was just a great, great moment.
On
Vince McMahon...
Of course, everyone knows he's a genius and he's the best
at what he does. But he's a terrific guy. I mean, he's the
kind of guy you can go up to and go 'I don't feel this storyline,
can we talk about this?' and he's always eager to listen
to you. And he knows whatever your comfort level is, is
what's going to work out there. He's really approachable
and down-to-earth. He's just an awesome guy to have as a
boss.
On
Bubba Dudley...
He's a great guy, I love working with him. There was a phase
there, where we were tagging up a few times and he's really
a great entertainer. And that's a guy, where if you go to
a live event and see Bubba entertain, man, he goes above
and beyond the call of duty. He'll go out of his way to
just put on the best for the fans. And so working side-by-side
with him, he's really like cued me into little things...He's
really good at recognizing those little things of the entertaining
business and helping people get there as well.
On
HHH...
The internet doesn't like The Game at all, do they? (laughing)
You know, it's funny. Because half the time, I want to say
that do they not like him because his character is that
strong and you're not supposed to like him, know what I
mean? Ultimately, backstage he's a great guy. He's approachable.
He's obviously in a position where you can go to him for
certain creative help--and he's always willing to offer
that. So, I've never seen a bad side of him and the only
thing I get, like as far as people not liking him, is to
me, it's really character related.
Sometimes,
it gets blown-up as far as finding that fine line on the
character and the real person. As a person, I have no complaints--I
think he's great. And I think he's a great assest to the
company because he really does care that much about the
business. He's willing to do whatever it takes out there
and has done that over the last few years. I often wonder
if all the slack he gets is because that's what his character
wants you to walk away feeling.
On
a title shot at Bad Blood...
I think that's a possiblity. I am certainly up for it. Gosh,
you know I didn't even realize that until it was like you
know, this is it. This is the first split ppv. I hope I'm
on it. (laughing) You know I'll be vying for a position,
that's for sure.
